The Board's accountability to Parliament includes the obligation to provide written and oral evidence to Parliamentary committees when required. This obligation is common to the United Kingdom Parliament, the Scottish Parliament and the National Assembly of Wales.

Due to the impending publication of the periodic review of Railtrack's access charges, the regulator returned to the Committee to give further evidence on the financial aspects of this review. This included the submission of supplementary written evidence.
12 July 2000
Evidence in respect of Rail Investment: Renewal, Maintenance and Development of the National Rail Network to the Transport Committee of the Environment, Transport and Regional Affairs, for which written evidence had been submitted beforehand. Supplementary written evidence was also submitted to the Committee after the hearing.
