What is RSS?
RSS stands for really simple syndication and is simply a news feed.
News feeds are used on some of our web pages as an alternative way to keep you updated on the latest additions to our website, without having to visit our website.
How to use our RSS feeds
You will need to have a news reader in order to be able to view RSS feeds. Most news readers are browser based and free to use, although some need to be downloaded.
For browsers that have an integrated news reader, you will see the orange RSS icon in the address bar and you can start using news feeds straight away by clicking on the icon.
Alternatively you can download news reader software from the web – simply do a search for 'news reader' in your favourite search engine.
If you already have a news reader, here's what you need to do:
- Click on the RSS feed link:
- This will open up the RSS feed and you will see a URL in the address bar at the top of the screen (Figure 2) – select and copy this URL:
- Open up your news reader, select 'news feed' and this will allow you to paste the URL into your news reader.
- The latest news from us will appear in your news reader.
