Station access
Network Rail owns the freehold to the vast majority of the approximately 2,500 railway stations in Great Britain. Most stations are leased to and operated by one or other of the franchised passenger train operating companies.
Network Rail operates only the following major stations:
| London | Outside London | |
|---|---|---|
| Cannon Street | Liverpool Street | Birmingham New Street |
| Charing Cross | London Bridge | Edinburgh Waverley |
| Euston | Paddington | Glasgow Central (High Level) |
| Fenchurch Street | London Victoria | Leeds |
| Gatwick Airport | St. Pancras | Liverpool Lime Street |
| King's Cross | Waterloo | Manchester Piccadilly |
The operator of each station is known as the station facility owner. Other train operators who want to use the station must enter into an access contract with the station facility owner. If the contracts are not approved by us, they are invalid.
