Annual safety reports

Under Regulation 20 of the Railways and Other Guided Transport Systems (Safety) Regulations 2006 (ROGS), transport operators who are required to have a safety certificate or safety authorisation must prepare an annual safety report (ASR) relating to the previous calendar year and send it to the Office of Rail Regulation (ORR) by 30th June of the following year. We have set up a dedicated email account, annualreports@orr.gsi.gov.uk specifically for this purpose.

We have worked closely with duty holders and RSSB to establish a process, resulting in the production of updated guidance for mainline operators and a standard template which duty holders are encouraged to use for their reports relating to the 2007 calendar year, separate guidance for non mainline operators is also available.  A commissioning note for the 2007 ASRs, together with the guidance and template, was forwarded to duty holders on 1 April 2008.

A review of the 2006 ASRs (the first year of reporting) is available here.
