National rail trends

National rail trends (NRT) is the main official rail publication containing data on passenger usage and rail performance.

Network Rail monitor

The Network Rail monitor is an important tool we use to hold Network Rail to account. The monitor is published quarterly.

Station usage data

Station usage data consist of estimates of the total numbers of people entering, exiting and interchanging at stations.

Health and safety statistics

We compile health and safety statistics in our Railway Safety Statistical Reports. From 2008, the Railway Safety Statistical Report was incorporated into National rail trends chapter 10.

Code of compliance

ORR compliance with the National Statistics Code of Practice principles and protocols.

Revisions policy

ORR is required to publish a revisions policy as part of the Code of Practice for National Statistics.

User engagement

ORR will publish proposals about changes to data here and will actively look for feedback from users of the statistics. 

ORR will also update this page with more detailed methodology notes which we are unable to publish within the publications due to space constraints.
