Environmental policy

The Office of Rail Regulation (ORR) seeks to fully integrate environmental management with business and daily operational management. This ensures that short and long-term environmental performance are considered in decisions regarding new and existing facilities, equipment, and suppliers.

The organisation is committed to the continual improvement of all aspects of our environmental performance. An audit is carried out on an annual basis to identify strengths and weaknesses in our processes and plans, and identify actions to be taken to prevent problems or correct deficiencies. This will be in line with government sustainability targets.

We support sustainable development, the responsible use of natural resources and energy conservation, and seek to integrate environmental considerations into all relevant internal working practices.

We seek to be more environmentally efficient through programmes of waste minimisation and pollution prevention, including product recycling with specific and measurable reduction targets where practicable. We aim to minimise the use of non-renewable resources and to develop an energy conservation programme to ensure efficient use of energy within the office.
