Resignation of Chief Executive of the Office of Rail Regulation

18 October 2004
ORR/41/04

The Office of Rail Regulation today announced that Suzanne McCarthy has resigned as Chief Executive. Suzanne decided to leave ORR because, given the changing nature of the job arising out of the rail review, it was not the job she thought she came to the ORR to do.

Chris Bolt, Chairman of ORR, said: “The Board has decided to accept Suzanne’s resignation. We wish her well for the future.

“The Board is pleased to announce that, pending appointment of a permanent successor, Keith Webb will be appointed as Chief Executive. He is currently Director of Corporate Affairs at ORR.”

Notes for editors

1. Keith Webb's appointment as Chief Executive will extend for at least nine months and up to a year by agreement.
