Appointment of the Head of Legal Services at the new Office of Rail Regulation

The Chief Executive of the Office of Rail Regulation, Suzanne McCarthy, today announced the appointment of Juliet Lazarus as Head of Legal Services at the Office of Rail Regulation.
Suzanne McCarthy said: “I warmly welcome Juliet Lazarus to the ORR team. Her experience in competition and regulatory law, in relation to rail and other regulated sectors, will be a valuable asset to the Office of Rail Regulation.”
Juliet Lazarus will join the Office of Rail Regulation on 19 July 2004. Her biographical note is attached as a note to editors.

Biographical note: Juliet Lazarus
Juliet Lazarus was appointed Head of Legal Services at the Office of Rail Regulation in July 2004. She was previously a consultant in the competition and regulatory group at Linklaters. She has extensive experience of advising public and private sector bodies in the rail, energy and telecommunications sectors. Most recently, she has advised in relation to the acquisition of Railtrack plc by Network Rail, and the interim review of access charges conducted by the Rail Regulator. From 1993 to 1994 she was seconded to the Office of Telecommunications as a policy advisor. Juliet qualified as a solicitor in 1989
