Who is responsible for ensuring that the needs of disabled passengers are met when travelling by train in Great Britain?
All licensed passenger train and station operators must comply with a Disabled People’s Protection Policy (‘DPPP’). They must also provide a copy of the statement of policy contained in it to anybody who requests a copy.
The Department for Transport (DfT) approves new operators’ DPPPs and amendments to DPPPs of existing operators. Further information is available in the DfT publication Accessible train and station design for disabled people: a code of practice
If you feel an operator is not protecting the needs of disabled passengers and have been dissatisfied with their response to your complaint, you should contact Passenger Focus.
