The Office of Rail Regulation (ORR) is required under section 72 of the Railways Act 1993 to maintain a public register. The provisions to be entered in the public register are detailed in section 72 of the Act including the following:
ORR also has a requirement to maintain a public register under the Environmental and Safety Information Act 1988.
To see the classes of information which ORR makes public and for relevant contact details, please view ORR's Publication Scheme which has been approved by the Information Commissioner.
Under section 71(2) of the Railways Act 1993, ORR may withhold from publication information which relates to the affairs of a private individual or a corporate or unincorporate body if we are satisfied that publication would or might seriously and prejudicially affect the interests of that person or body. For this reason, when consulting the documents on the public register you may find certain information excluded.
Not all documents entered in the public register are available to be viewed electronically, although they are all listed in the index. You may view the contents of the public register index, together with those specific documents which are available electronically, through this section of the website.
The online index was last updated on 15 August 2008. Copies of documents can be purchased from ORR's Library. There is an administrative charge of £2.00 per order plus the price of the document(s) as shown in the index.
Cheques should be made payable to the Office of Rail Regulation and should be sent with your order to:
