Rail Regulator publishes guidance on minor closures of stations

18 October 1999
ORR/99/46

A new document published by the Office of the Rail Regulator today aims to make it easier for station operators to understand the process involved in modifying part of a station. The document Closures of Parts of Stations is written in question and answer format to provide a simple and straightforward guide to assist station operators and other parties planning physical changes and improvements to stations.

The step-by-step guide sets out the relevant provisions of the Railways Act 1993 in respect of minor closures and explains how operators can apply for a minor closure certificate. It also details what information should be provided by operators making an application and how the Regulator will handle the application.

Closures of Parts of Stations information paper four is available from the Librarian at the Office of the Rail Regulator who can be contacted at 1 Waterhouse Square, 138-142 Holborn, London EC1N 2TQ, by telephone on 0207 2822001, by fax on 0207 282 2045 or by e-mail at rail.library@orr.gsi.gov.uk.
