Statement by the Rail Regulator

On 15 January 2001, Railtrack accepted the Regulator's final conclusions on its financial framework for the period 2001-2006. On that date, the Regulator made a formal statement in relation to his attitude to the possibility of an interim review to take account of the effects of the Hatfield derailment. A copy of that statement is attached to the Regulator's press release of that date. The Regulator's statement of 15 January 2001 remains his position.
